PicMess (“we”, “the app”) is built around a simple idea: your photos are yours. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your data.
The short version
Your photos and videos never leave your device. PicMess has no servers and no account system. It does not upload, copy, or transmit your photos anywhere.
What the app accesses
With your permission, PicMess reads your photo library so you can review it, and it can:
show your photos and videos for sorting;
add items to albums you choose (including your iCloud Shared Albums);
mark items as Favorites;
delete items — which moves them to your Recently Deleted, where iOS keeps them for 30 days.
All of this happens on your device, through Apple’s Photos framework. We never see your photos.
The only data that leaves your device
Place names (optional). If you use the “City” filter, the app asks Apple’s geocoding service to turn a photo’s location coordinates into a city name. Only coordinates are sent — never your photos — and each place is looked up once and cached. If you don’t use that filter, nothing is sent.
Purchases. Buying “PicMess Full” is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment details.
What we do NOT do
No accounts, sign-ups, or logins.
No analytics, tracking, or advertising.
No third-party SDKs that collect your data.
No selling or sharing of personal information — we don’t collect any to begin with.
Information stored on your device
Your settings (folder names, the two share people, filters) and your PicMess Full / trial status are stored locally on your device using Apple’s standard storage (UserDefaults and the Keychain). This never leaves your device except through your own iCloud backup, which is controlled by Apple and your settings.
Children
PicMess is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone.
